If you could design any app or tool for yourself, what would it do?

If I could design any app or tool for myself, I would create an app specifically for women looking for information on how to perform essential car maintenance and repairs. Many women face challenges in understanding vehicle maintenance, whether due to a lack of knowledge, accessibility to trustworthy resources, or fear of being taken advantage of at auto shops. My app would serve as an educational and support tool, empowering women with the skills and confidence to handle level-one mechanical tasks such as changing a tire, replacing windshield wipers, checking and refilling fluids, and even changing brakes.

This idea comes from my own personal experience of replacing my car’s alternator. I remember spending hours searching Google and watching multiple YouTube videos, trying to explain what the alternator looked like, where it was located in my car, and how to remove and replace it appropriately. It was frustrating because every video showed a different make and model, and none gave me a step-by-step guide tailored to my specific car. If an app could have simplified this process—showing me exactly what my alternator looked like, where it was located in my vehicle, and providing a clear step-by-step tutorial—it would have made the experience much easier and less stressful.

With that in mind, my app would feature step-by-step video tutorials customized for different car models, making it easier for users to find precise guidance. It would also include a live chat function where users could connect with a knowledgeable mechanic or support specialist in real time. If a task proved too challenging, the app would provide an option to request assistance from a trusted local mechanic.

Ultimately, this app would save users time and money and help them build confidence in maintaining their own vehicles. By making car maintenance more accessible and less intimidating, I hope to create a community where women feel empowered to take control of their automotive needs.
