Including Us in Tech Feature - 2/17/2025
Daniel Ikem

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone transitioning into tech from another industry?
Leaping to tech from another sector can seem daunting, yet it involves harnessing your strengths and committing to lifelong learning. Your past experiences, whether in business, healthcare, law, or any other arena, provide a unique viewpoint that the tech sector values. Begin by pinpointing transferable skills such as project management, problem-solving, or strategic thinking, and combine these with essential technical knowledge relevant to your chosen field.
Networking is vital for contacting industry experts, participating in tech communities, and seeking mentors. Obtaining certifications and working on hands-on projects can help differentiate you, but your capacity to articulate technical concepts in a way that resonates with various stakeholders is equally important. Above all, maintain adaptability. The industry changes swiftly, and your eagerness to learn and adjust will set you apart.
